Update

Well, seeing as how I will be stuck in the airport for an undetermined amount of time due to mechanical problems on the plane (oil leaking from the nose – What I am surprised about is that they let us board without noticing it). Oh well, it isn’t a TDY if you don’t have a delay at some point in the trip 🙂

Just wanted to take the time to let you all know that within the next couple of days, i will be launching a new blog with Marcos, a fellow Apple fanboy 🙂

It will be focused on tech-based news, obviously with emphasis placed on Apple. I’ll let you know when the site goes live, keep an eye out!

Apple, Technology, Coding, and Me

Though I haven’t shared it with a lot of people, one of my long-term “goals” for a while has been to write an iPhone/iPad app. Finding time to work on it is the hardest part, between work, school, and life in general. However, it is not like things are ever going to get less hectic, so I just need to slowly make time to learn Objective C, Cocoa, and everything else I need to make a successful app.

I won’t be doing this myself (met someone else who is as big an Apple fan as me, haha), so we’ll be tackling it together. It’ll take a long while, and we still don’t have a complete picture of what the app will be, but that is still quite a bit away.

Relatedly, we will also be starting up a blog more devoted to tech based topics and issues. The whole iPhone 4 antenna topic has motivated me to research and write my opinion on technical topics, so this will be a way to hone our skills. Currently working on the layout and feel of things (at least for an initial release), I’ll let you know here when it is ready to go.

It is exciting (maybe the app we make is the next big hit), and being able to program is certainly not a bad skill to have in this day and age.

First iPad Post

Well, I am blogging live from my iPad! I will be writing a full review in a couple of weeks, but I want to take it with me on TDY and try out the 3G first. So far, I love it 🙂 I have used Netflix more in the last few days than since I signed up 5 months ago. A lot of it has to do with the size of the iPad; it makes it such a great bed/couch companion.

Things are going well otherwise. I also need to post summaries of my last couple of classes (we have been focus on parables). I hope to have them up in the next couple of days.

If you have any questions about the iPad that you want me to answer, just post a comment!

So It’s Been A While…

As always with blogs (at least the ones I write), I’ll invariably not post for a month or two.  What usually ends up happening is that either:

a) I’m not sure what topic to discuss, which leads to procrastination, and/or

b) Things happening in my life that take up my time and I don’t get around to posting.

In either case, I’ll promise to do a better job this time.  To help in this aspect, I have a new idea.  For those who don’t know, I am a Sunday School teacher for mu church, teaching students in the 15-22 age group (or until the student feels so old he/she joins the adult class, haha).  I thought it would be good to provide a summary of what was taught, major highlights, and important conclusions.  We discussed a pretty hefty topic today; why is there so much evil and suffering in the world?  I thought it was a good discussion for 45minutes, highlighting various Biblical passages and some reasons for the state of our world.  Be on the lookout for it later this week.

For current events, I went skiing yesterday at Camelback.  I hadn’t gone in almost 7-8 years, and though it was difficult at first, by the end of the day the falls were kept to a minimum.  I really want to try next year and go a few times throughout the season, it really is a fun time.  Here is a pic of me posing prior to starting (sorry for bad quality, was taken w/ my phone and the lighting was not that good):
